Ludlow Rotarian to visit the Malayaka House

LUDLOW, Vt. – As many in our area know, our communities have a special connection with an orphanage in Entebbe, Uganda called the Malayaka House. Many from our area have visited over the years. The Ludlow Rotary, with the help of the community, has sent numerous items over the years in suitcases: school supplies, towels, blankets, even skateboards and soccer balls for the children.

Later this month, a Ludlow Rotarian is headed over to see all they have accomplished and will again be bringing an extra suitcase or two filled with shoes for the kids and the care providers who they call “the Aunties.” There are 50 kids including five infants. Most of the children are in the 8 to 12 years range. If you have any new or gently loved crocs from little baby to adult sizes you are no longer using, please donate them at the locations below before Oct. 21 and we will make sure they are cleaned and packed to travel to our friends at the Malayaka House!

Donation areas include: Benson’s Chevrolet, Peoples United Bank, Fletcher Memorial Library, or Ludlow Insurance.

Any questions, please call Jill at the library 802-228-8921 or Sharon at Ludlow Insurance 802-228-8823. Thank you for your continued caring.
