CHESTER, Vt. – On Aug. 26, 2017, the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, Chapter 26-3 held the “Put Some Pork on Your Fork” dinner and fundraising event held at the American Legion Post 67 in Chester, Vt. Ronald Walker passed away in October 2016 and was a member of this prestigious Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association.
In November 2016, after Walker’s passing, Lt. Mark Fountain of the Springfield Police Department agreed to take over Honor Flight New England’s fundraising activities in the region. Lt. Fountain approached the CVMA Chapter 26-3 and asked them about doing a ride to remember Walker with all funds raised benefiting Honor Flight New England. The membership advised him they were interested in such an event and they would get back to him about doing a ride in Walker’s honor.
On the evening of this event, the CVMA 26-3 Commander Dennis Thomson and CVMAVT State Representative Kurt Merriman presented him with a check for $8,000.00 made possible through CVMA’s National Charitable Donation Committee, payable to Honor Flight New England. Also present for the presentation was Walker’s wife Liz Walker. Merriman commented to Lt. Fountain that the association had been planning this presentation for nearly a year.
Lt. Fountain said to the association in accepting this donation, “I am forever grateful and greatly humbled to the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and CVMA Chapter 26-3 for their very generous donation to Honor Flight New England, which was near and dear to my friend Ron.”
CVMA is a great association and is all about “Vets helping Vets”.
This donation will be used by Honor Flight New England to pay to send WWII and or Korean War Vets to Washington D.C. for the day so they can visit their war memorial at no expense to the veterans.
