LUDLOW, Vt. – The Heald Auditorium in Ludlow’s Town Hall was the recent scene of a very memorable event – one that has not been seen or heard in Ludlow for many years. The Enerjazz Big Band presented a very-well attended concert of the great swing and jazz music of several generations ago. The audience so enjoyed the music that it soon took to the open floor to dance to it.
Beginning and ending with two different versions of Glenn Miller’s classic “In the Mood,” the program featured the great scores of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, and many others, along with songs made famous by Frank Sinatra and the “rat pack.”
In addition to the great music provided by Enerjazz, the audience enjoyed vocals of such hits as “Sentimental Journey,” “Minnie the Moocher,” and “At Last.”
The event was sponsored by FOLA. According to FOLA member, Ralph Pace, the event was a test to see if “folks in the area would really support this kind of musical treat.” Based on the audience’s response, it appears they do.
