LUDLOW, Vt. – Black River Good Neighbor Services in Ludlow is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of a Stewart’s Shop Holiday Match Grant. The amazing generosity of Stewart’s customers contributed to yet another record-breaking season, allowing them to provide support to 1,737 organizations. There are no administrative costs with this program, meaning 100 percent of the funds collected and matched benefit children’s organizations directly within their communities.
Stewart’s Holiday Match funds will support BRGNS’ backpack program that provides food to children during school vacations. The program, which began in 2016, served 34 children during the summer and winter school vacations this past year. It is one of many support programs run by BRGNS to benefit families in need of temporary assistance.
BRGNS is offering a school vacation backpack program during the April school vacation this year (the week of April 17-21). They will provide a week’s worth of breakfast and lunches for school-age kids packed and ready for pickup at the Food Shelf on Friday, April 14. Pickup time will be from 1- 3 p.m. on that day.
This program is offered by registration only to school-aged children within their service area, which includes Ludlow, Cavendish, Proctorsville, Belmont, Mt. Holly and Plymouth. If you are interested in having your children participate, please stop by the Food Shelf for an application. Registration deadline is Monday, April 3. They look forward to helping families out with meals during the upcoming school vacation week.
