LONDONDERRY, Vt. – Magic Mountain has been recognized as one of the Overall Best in Snow, Most Challenging, Least Crowded and Best Value ski areas in the North East, winning a 2016-17 Best in Snow Award, Powered by Liftopia.

All of us at Magic are excited about receiving this award”, said Geoff Hatheway, President of SKI MAGIC LLC, which recently closed on the purchase of Magic in late November. “We really owe this award to our enthusiastic fan base who is excited to see Magic become an even better throwback ski experience for generations to come.”

The 2016-17 Best in Snow Awards, Powered By Liftopia, are the pre-eminent rankings of the best and most beloved ski areas in North America. Unlike other rankings, this list the only one that incorporates the largest dataset in the industry combined with feedback from thousands of skiers and snowboarders to determine ski areas they are most passionate about.

To compile the awards, Liftopia surveyed their customers to measure their enthusiasm on specific aspects of their favorite resorts such as family friendliness, challenging terrain, crowds, and snow consistency and quality.

SKI MAGIC is a Vermont-based LLC with a group of investors committed to realizing the full potential of a legendary, independent ski area. SKI MAGIC will stay true to what has made Magic Mountain special: its unmatched challenging ski terrain in southern Vermont; a “throwback” experience without soul-crushing crowds; and a laid-back, welcoming ski community culture. New capital will be targeted to fix what has held it back: more efficient snow-making coverage and more accessible, reliable lifts for all skier types, including learn-to-ski. SKI MAGIC has an initial 5-year plan to bring Magic to ongoing operating profitability which will help employees, local home owners, local businesses, and most importantly, its growing family of skiers and riders who want Magic to succeed and be their mountain adventure for generations to come.
