LUDLOW, Vt. – Around July 4th last year one of the flower boxes on the Walker Bridge was destroyed and thrown into the Black River. Over the July 4th weekend this year three more flower boxes on the north side of the same bridge in Ludlow were broken off at the bridge railing and landed in the Black River. A fifth box on the south side of the bridge met the same fate on July 13. Unfortunately they cannot be salvaged. All bridge boxes have been purchased by Ludlow Streetscapes. This year the beautiful plants in the boxes on the Walker Bridge were purchased and planted by the Ludlow Garden Club. We ask that anyone with information related to this vandalism report such to the Ludlow Police Department.

Streetscapes will hold a fundraiser, bake goods and cold beverages, on Saturday August 20 from 11 am to 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, Ludlow. Proceeds will be used for new planter boxes on the Walker Bridge after it’s reconstruction next summer.

Monetary donations will be gratefully received and are tax deductible. Mail donations payable to Ludlow Streetscapes to: Ludlow Streetscapes, P.O. Box 364. Ludlow, Vt. 05149. If you would like to donate baked goods for the fundraiser please contact Patty Greenwood at 228- 4849 or drop them off at 11 am at Veterans Memorial Park on August 20. We greatly appreciate your previous support.
