Crown Point Builders are complete general contractors specializing in residential design and construction, additions, renovations and outbuildings. They offer full design services including planning, site evaluation, and interior finishes and details. They also oversee engineering and the design process with customers all the way to turnkey, says co-owner Mark Mitchell.
Founded in 1992, the company has a local focus. Partners and co-owners Ken Duffy and Mark Mitchell were both born and raised in Springfield, Vt., and have been “best friends since seventh grade.” Mitchell lives in his grandparents’ house.
Specialties include log, timber frame, post and beam, and SIP (structural insulated panel) construction. They also do a “lot of barns” and outbuildings, Mitchell says. The company emphasizes energy efficiency, including 5-star ratings.
“We not only develop houses for people but we develop relationships,” Mitchell says. “Throughout a new home or sizeable project you develop a relationship to have the project go smoothly.” They work closely with the client to think through custom floor plans and appearance they want to achieve.
Renovations aim at energy savings in the building exteriors. Mitchell and Duffy don’t do historic preservation as such but they do help people analyze historic features when planning upgrades.
