June 26 – “Anasi, Keeper of the Stories” – Folklore of the Ashanti culture tells how the spider Anansi brings stories to people on the earth.
July 3 – “Thumbelina” – Based on the story by Hans Christian Andersen. A tiny girl uses her imagination to be true to her own heart.
July 10 – “The Bremen Town Musicians” – Based on a Brothers Grimm fairytale. An aging donkey, dog, cat and rooster band together and delight in their newfound freedom.
July 17 – “The Nightingale” – Based on the story by Hans Christian Andersen. The Emperor is in love with the song of the nightingale until he falls in love with a jeweled mechanical bird.
July 24 – “Snow White and Rose Red” – Based on a Brothers Grimm fairytale. Confronted with a dwarf and a bear one day, Snow White and Rose Red are in awe when things resolve unexpectedly.
July 31 – “Momotaro, Ogre Hunter” – A story from Japan relates how Momotaro and his friends, a talking dog, monkey and pheasant, save a village on a distant island from marauding ogres.
August 7 – “How the Rainbow was Made” – A creation tale from the Ojibwe Nation. Nanabozho, an Ojibwe spirit, brings out his paints to color the flowers, and the day takes an unexpected turn.
August 14 – “Humpelken-Pumpelken” – Based on the “Humpty-Dumpty” nursery rhyme, Humpelken-Pumpelken and her friends defend the town of Eggland when it is attacked by a devious chef and his crew.
