SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – The Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Springfield Food Co-op and other local businesses to promote healthy commerce in our region and celebrate Small Business Saturday!
Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and we all know that means the dreaded (or beloved) Black Friday is not far behind. But many people don’t know about Small Business Saturday. This special holiday lands on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 25, 2017, and the message is simple: shop local!
Many small businesses in our area will be offering specials in honor of the Small Business Saturday holiday. Others will be providing cookies or snacks, free samples, and other customer appreciation perks. This is an awesome chance to get creative! Great ideas for celebrating include balloons, banners, raffles, giveaways, coupons and gift certificates, live music, face-painting, limited-time offers, and contests. Do something memorable so customers will think of you the next time they make a purchase decision! Snap a photo to share and encourage shoppers to do the same – the more we spread the word, the greater the impact!
Even non-profits and businesses that sell services rather than products can get involved! Put up posters encouraging folks to spend their money locally, or tell a story on social media about a local company you do business with or ways that your company supports the local economy. Buy something from another local business or dine at a local establishment, take a photo and share your participation on social media with the hash tag #shopsmall.
We have some promotional items available at the Chamber office including “Shop Small” reusable fabric bags, posters and banners, so feel free to stop by and pick up a few things, or call us if you need us to drop some items off at your location. We would like to include as many small businesses and organizations as possible – the more the merrier! If you are interested to be a part of this important local initiative to promote prosperity in our region, we’d love to have you involved! Contact us to let us know what you’ll be doing to celebrate and promote Small Business Saturday, and we will share the efforts on Facebook and in the press.
