SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Join Charlie and his friends, the “Peanuts,” on another comedic adventure here at the Springfield Community Players as we present, “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown [Revised],” book, music, and lyrics by Clark Gesner, additional dialogue by Michael Mayer and additional music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa.
The musical will feature a series of vignettes based off the “Peanuts” comic strip. It is through the series of vignettes that the audience comes to learn more about Charlie and his friends. Each vignette showcases the personalities of all the characters – even quirks, weaknesses, and strengths. While the audience learns more about the “Peanuts” gang, Charlie experiences the most character growth, no longer being a young boy full of self-doubt, fear, and hope. With help from his friends, Charlie learns to accept his shortcomings. “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown [Revised]” is an age-old tale with relevant messaging for all audiences. It is certainly a timeless classic that won’t want to be missed.
As a first time director with the Springfield Community Players, Parker Eastman comes to the organization with a background of theatrical experience. While in school, Eastman served as the musical director for his theater productions, playing piano and staging sound effects. In his stint at the Springfield Community Players Studio, Eastman has rallied local talent to portray the “Peanuts” gang. He is not only serving as the director but also the musical director, drawing on his strengths as musician. The cast for “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown [Revised]” features amazing actors both locally and from the region: Dominic DiBenedetto as Charlie Brown, Laura Carbonneau as Sally Brown, John Savastinuk as Linus Van Pelt, Lindsey Orton as Lucy Van Pelt, Zac Binney as Schroeder, Allison McGahie as Snoopy, and Emily Wunderle as Woodstock to round out the cast that will be sure to please and thrill the audience with their amazing voices.
As the first show comes closer, Eastman has reflected on his time with the players and his talent. “This has been an extremely fun experience. I already have two or three ideas for next season. I have loved working with this cast and crew, and I look forward to many more years with the Players. Everyone has been welcoming, very supportive, and I am looking forward to making many memories with everyone,” he said.
Eastman would also like for viewers to know, “The Players is an organization to join and be a part of. I want the viewers to know we all have fun and we can make great memories together.”
