SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – The Springfield High School Arts Department invites students, parents, family, and community members to the third annual winter “Coffee House” and theatre event this March 22 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the high school.
On the small stage in the school’s cafeteria, students from the Madrigal Singers class will perform songs from such well-known singer/songwriters as Sia and Adele alongside indie-style ballads by acts like “Oh Wonder” and “Two Feet,” with backing instrumentals by music director Jim Chlebak and former L.A. session player Mike Schlenoff. Schenoff will also team with the SHS Wind Ensemble on guitar for two time-honored staples: Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4” and Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.”
Following the concert, from 7 to 7:45 p.m. in the school’s auditorium, the SHS Theatre Department will present a parent/friend preview of this year’s drama festival piece, “The Customer is Always Wrong.” They will perform the same work on Saturday, March 24 at Rutland High School during one of Vermont’s Regional Drama Festivals.
Both events on March 22 are free and run at the same time as parent/teacher conferences.
