CHESTER, Vt. – Owen Nied, a 20-year-old singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist will perform a solo show at the Stone Hearth Inn & Tavern in Chester, Vt., July 14, 2018 at 7 p.m.
Owen has been performing since he was 9 years old. In addition to solo touring, he fronts the indie band The Onlys, a horn-driven trio that explores pop, jazz, and funk. He is also one half of the new-grass duo, Owen and Sam. Owen’s original music ranges from edgy pop to jazz to blues, rock, and hip hop and is influenced by artists as diverse as Wes Montgomery, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jack White, Brian Wilson, B.B. King, Van Morrison, and Ella Fitzgerald.
Owen began his professional music career as a featured performer at the 2011 and 2012 Ukulele Festival of Great Britain, having been awarded an initial performance slot by winning a YouTube video competition at the age of 11. Owen has gone on to tour the U.S., France, and England. Owen has composed original music for modern dance and independent film. He also works as a session player providing virtuosic lead guitar, piano, and harmony vocals for other recording artists. He will be releasing a new LP as the lead singer and guitarist for The Onlys in October 2018. Owen’s show at the Stone Hearth will be his first since returning from performing in the Netherlands. Simon Murphy, artistic director of The Hague Baroque Orchestra, New Dutch Academy has said, “It was an honour to hear Owen play and sing.”
