SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – What? That is the name created from two names submitted for Gallery at the VAULT’s  Steampunk Cat Mascot naming contest.

VAULT received lots of great names that we gave to Sabrina Smith, coordinator of the Springfield Steampunk Festival (Sept. 23 – 25). She chose a combination of “Mortimer Edward Oscar William Springfield, the 3rd” (MEOWS III) by Brandy Salo and “Mad Catter” by Jan Gould. Thus, Mortimer “Mad Catter” Springfield, III was created. We would like to acknowledge Margaret Tucker for also submitting the name “Mortimer.”

Of course, being a mascot, he is in the window inviting you to come into the gallery to see all the wonderful, creative Steampunk art and items to wear to the festival during VAULT’s Steampunk Show, now through Sept. 27.

For more information please call Gallery at the VAULT, 68 Main St. in  Springfield. We are open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Contact: 802-885-7111, galleryvault@vermontel.net or visit our web page: www.galleryvault.org. Also, visit springfieldvtsteampunkfest.com/ for information about the festival events.
