Cardboard regatta and big silent auction

BELMONT, Vt. – Summer Palooza is here! Our big party at the ODD Fellows Hall on Star Lake in Belmont is loaded with fun for the whole family!

The party kicks off Saturday, Aug. 19 at 3 p.m. with a cardboard regatta (prizes awarded), followed by a dunking booth. Lots of games for young and old alike are next including tug-o-war, bragging rights to the winning team.

DJ Brett Myhre will provide music from 3-5 p.m. Along with music Brett will challenge everyone to games of Jenga and the floating parachute. And then from 5 -9 p.m. the Beatles Band and the Mt. Holly Folk Club will provide music for your listening and dancing pleasure while you wait for the Silent Auction bidding to close.

Our BBQ runs from 5-7 p.m. or until the food runs out. Food is being donated by Macauley Food Service, Black River Produce, Coke, Gloria’s Pantry, Big Eyes Bakery, the Hatchery and other area vendors. A bake sale dessert table will have cookies, whoopee pies, fruit breads and other sweets.

And this year our Annual Silent Auction in the ODD Fellows Hall has some great items:  four day passes for Walt Disney World; eight tickets donated by Okemo for the Adventure Zone; four day passes for Shelburne Museum donated by Vermont Finer Tours; a Ryan Spooner autographed hockey puck from the Boston Bruins; basket of assorted wines; sports wear package from Killington Basin Sports; four UVM Men’s Basketball tickets; Weston Playhouse tickets; 100 gallons of fuel oil from H.B Energy; Greens fees for four from Okemo Valley Golf Club; Family Four-Pack of tickets to Zoo New England in Boston; and Montshire Museum tickets.

Several baskets include items and gift certificates from area merchants including Brewfest, Village Pizza, LaValleys, Mt. Cycology, American Pie, DJs, Tygart Mt. Sports, Singletons’ and area restaurants and shops. A number of gift certificates for massages, manicures, pedicures, hair makeovers and more from 5 Elements Salon and Day Spa in Rutland. Yoga classes; jewelry and pottery from area artisans; plus a one-week house rental in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. More items are coming in every day so look for some surprises.
